Like anything, video gaming is only bad if it begins to take over the life of the player playing them. They have to be taken into moderation. The saying, that too much of a good thing is bad for you, is never more true with video gaming. Video gaming is addictive, tremendously so and adults, as much as kids, can while away hours at a time {even days, in some cases} playing the games.
There are both positive and negative sides to playing video games - as there is with anything that adults and children do. The negative sides to this is separation from the rest of the family, short temper {when away from the games for any amount of time} lack of concentration on anything else around us.
No interest in doing other things, lack of appetite, withdrawal symptoms {because playing video gaming for such lengthy times has be likened to taking drugs}. Below is a list of all the symptoms that a child can go through when playing video games for lengthy periods of time.
Lack of friends, personal hygiene, lack of appetite and sleep, school work missed, social isolation, depression, anxiety, lack of interest in anything else. Headaches, eye strain, backache, carpel tunnel syndrome {which is pressure on the nerves of the wrists}. Having stated all of that, video gaming breaks the myth that those kids who play it are alone or loners.
In fact, nothing could be further from the truth. The truth is that there are countless teenagers playing video games On Line. They compete, against each other, set up teams against each other, and socialize on line. Lasting friendships are formed over the 'Web', and this is good.
Gone are the days when teenagers would play computer games alone, in their bedroom. Now a whole new world has opened up for them in which they can take part - and compete - in games against teenagers from all over the world. This is the great thing about computer gaming on line, that it has definitely opened up the world.
Video gaming can increase spatial awareness, increase concentration and can help with the 'logical thinking' process. Also, reactions become faster as mind, and body become as one with the avatar on the screen. By competing against each other, they are learning vital, social and teamwork skills.
These skills will stand them in good stead in the real world, and they will never lose them. Far from being 'alone' teenagers are competing, and working as a team. They are also forming friendships that will last a lifetime. This is a far cry
