Many years ago, I would have said no and online dating is phony and creepy. Many people are against it because of the dangers it has. The constant worry of the person you meet possibly being a criminal or pervert but times have changed. With technology, you can see what they look like, webcam with them to confirm their identity and even check out their facebook profile to see what kind of person they are. Not to sound like a stalker but prevention is better than cure and being safe is better than being sorry.
Of course putting up all your information on the web is not a good idea but some general information is sufficient until you get to know the person a little better. I met my current boyfriend online through a site and we have been together for a year and I have never been happier in my life. It sound unbelievable and I question it all the time because sometimes it seems too good to be true but you have to give it a chance and stop questioning which is one of the underlying reasons that cause problems in relationships because having been hurt so many times, you expect to be hurt again and you are always looking for that one problem the person has just so you can satisfy your own questions on why he or she was not attached when you met them and is with you instead if they are that great a person. Of course, everyone has their short comings but that is human nature.
The great thing about online dating is that you get to list what you like and you don't like and people contact you based on what they like in your profile like your hobbies, favourite movies and such. That is one thing that will take you a longer time to fin out about a person that you meet face to face. Both online and in reality when you meet a person, there will always be the mystery and the many things you want to know about them but it differs in the instance of the amount of time it takes to know more about the person. And mostly when you date a person that you have met in person or in the real offline world, they will be somehow connected to a friend or acquaintance of yours and you will bound to bump into them again in future and things can get awkward. When you date online, if it doesn't work out, there is a good 99% chance you will never see them again and it will not affect your life.
Of course when you date online, there are the good and bad dates that you end up having and there are so many different characters that you would never expect. For me, it was entertaining and
