The Wilderness was reintroduced to Runescape on the first of February, 2011. Since then many players now cringe at the idea of doing a level three clue scroll, hunting green dragons for their bones and hides, or doing certain quests in the Wilderness. Why do these players cringe and fear the Wilderness? The Wilderness, of course, is now ruled by player killers. Players who will stop at nothing to kill you and take possession of any valuables you had on death. When there aren’t other players doing activities in the wilderness though, these player killers turn to killing each other to make a profit. A successful player killer can make millions every day and have enormous fun while doing it. Player killing provides a thrill like no other, and if done properly can be more than rewarding.
The question remains though. How do you go about killing players who have had years of experience, incredible weaponry and armor, and probably even more incredible levels? You could of course train your levels, make millions through grinding and boring money making activities for a godsword or another very strong weapon, or you could learn the inside tricks to player killing.
The first trick that you must utilize to its utmost potential regards hotkeys. Hotkeys, located at the top of your keyboard, are labeled f1, f2, f3, f4, and f5. When one of these keys is pressed the current tab in-game is changed instantly. For example, when f1 is pressed the inventory tab is immediately brought forth, when f5 is pressed the combat tab becomes available for use, f3 is for prayer, and f4 is for magic while f2 should never be used as it only switches to the equip weapons / armor screen. When fighting a player, these hotkeys become necessary for switching between weapons and their respective special attacks, switching prayers in a hurry, and switching back to the inventory tab immediately when in trouble. The main problem a beginning player killer faces is the problem of switching from a primary weapon such as a whip, to a secondary kill weapon such as a dragon dagger. Without hotkeys you would have to manually click on the dagger, then move the mouse all the way up to the combat tab option, and finally all the way down to the special attack bar. By the time all of this is done the opposing player will have already healed to a high enough lifepoints that it should be nearly impossible to kill them. To make these switches deadly and lightning fast though, simply place the secondary
