Guild Wars was my first online game i ever played. In comparassion to World of Warcraft or Everquest i must say guild wars is the most advanced and is defintly not for eleven year olds-as previously mentioned. if any thing guild wars is the most advanced online game in the rpg sector.
it has an active economy with merchants basing their pricces on the amount of goods which adventurers trade to them.there are all sorts of tradesmen which you can trade with-armour,rune traders, weapons.all the usual assortment of shops you would find in any Rpg.
there are twenty levels with which your character can advance through.it is pretty hard to get to level twenty without doing the quests but it isnt pointless going out an killing the creatures found on the plains or in the swamps or the forests.this is the best part of the game actually.it is where you find most of the unique and valuable items.with these items you can use them or you can go to any outpost or city and offer them for sale to people around the world at whatever price you deem worthy.
Quests are an essential part of the story line as they make you advance both in level and into the games compelling story line which takes you to across many cities and involves different factions.there are some huge battles in cities where you have to defend a city or attack a city. You can do this with your party of eight men-which can be your friends or can be henchmen. It is much more fun with your friends!
it is very easy to make friends on this game.you can join a guild which are always recruiting new members.guilds are a brilliant way to learn to play the game if you hev not played before as people will help you out.Joining a guild is not necessary but it makes the game a lot more fun.once you join a guild you get a chance to part take in battles with other teams from all over the world. Some guilds have up to 200 hactive members and growing.or if you dont like the guild you ar ein you can leave and start your own guild and then you can recruit your own members and make your own rules.
there isnt that much to critise about this game.it may be a bit tedious at the beginning of the game because you do not have many powers or skills but once you hit level five the game gets really exciting with unique powers and exciting missions which vary hugely-from attacking cities-rescuing boys captured by pirates-attacking huge plants-attacking an undead city-defending the cities of the alliances. You get the point.
Anyway in my opinion at the moment you will not get a better online game.there are three versions of guild wars-all exciting with unique challenges-Guild Wars Prophecies-Factions and Nightfall
