Thank You Letter
Thank you, my love,
for begin patient beyond
human comprehension
past understanding
through muck as opaque as cement—
and as stubbornly housed
Thank you, my love,
for somehow knowing in your being
that we were meant as us—
for withstanding the pain and fear of
bridges I have not yet crossed
for reacting above honesty and trust
for accepting, and questioning,
and caring with lust indefatigable
Thank you, my,love,
for becoming the allay I've always needed,
but never knew
for introducing your love, your patience
and all that you do—
to prove you are not the enemy,
you're the preacher of the truth
you care enough to look to
past evils that have taken me root—
and invaded my garden
to show me that I and I alone
have been the poison to myself
and I must forgive and pardon
what I could not grow alone
Thank you, my love
for caring
no matter how hard I fought,
or how wrong I was,
to swing back with curiosity
and a warm hug,
rather than a merciless blow
incredible insight did you show
how could you know what I yearned for
what I've gone through,
how to undo
what's been done
miraculously,
like Mother nature,
you rise like the sun
for me,
everyday
Thank you, my love,
for taking me by the hand
for holding on unconditionally
when I bit at you mad, like a dog rabid and scared
your fingers never lost their loving touch,
palms pressed firmly together,
though I resisted so heavily much
Thank you, my love,
for leading the way
for helping me navigate
yesterday into today
for beside me looking back, remembering —
looking way ahead —
not to forget
but to realize our journey,
to regain control
to freefall with direction
to give credence to our soul
with the natural knowing and force
of a propitious waterfall
Thank you, my love,
for helping me to loosen my grip
clutching on to nothingness
for teaching me to shoot from the hip
and not stab myself in the back
for releasing my mind,
for freeing me to shed
my once severely needed
safety net
that was old, unneccesary,
and full of gaping holes
I could not mend
or even understand,
lest contend
Thank you, my love
for steering it all to
an end
for guiding me in the driver's seat
for being a passenger
on my wild ride of revenge
for never wavering,
for giving me a jumpstart
when I began to stall
for reviving my battery
by giving your own guts and soul
to fuel me
while I was fixed on the
rear view mirror,
you concentrated on the
yellow lines ahead
and brought us to
our destination, safely
over hurdles and places
untread—
by either of us
we found our way
because
