Halo: Reach is the prequel to the successful Halo series was released September 2010,on release date its sales figures overtook those of its predecessors and even those of Infinity Wards Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 , as soon as these figures were released and the game sold so well there was always a fear that people would get addicted to Reach.
Reach has some of the best graphics to date in a halo game and an amazing storyline and an amazing musical score that really immerses you into the world of Reach and the halo universe and raises the standard of games to be released in the future. It has an amazing online multiplayer that has become one of the most popular online games on xbox360 and has raised the bar for multiplayer in the future of gaming but this is where issues may start with addiction to winning games and progressing to the next level and rank.
Each time you level up you gain new ranks and armour for you to customise your characters appearance, to get these armour you must use the in game currency to purchase them once they are unlocked, these are earned by playing multiplayer matches and doing challenges online.
People will strive towards getting the higher ranks to unlock the best armour which costs more in game currency to buy, this means they need to play more games online to save up to purchase helmets of armour which they will have to play five or six games to save up for so to get the better items you need to play more matches which means investing more time into playing. This is where the addiction can start as players will strive to be the best or look the best by obtaining higher ranks.
There is nothing wrong with working towards being the best or getting addicted, the people who are addicted need to realise that it is just a game and should not let it rule their lives and get in the way of their social and personal relationships or professional life because this can become a serious problem if they do become fully addicted. Halo: Reach is an amazing multiplayer experience and is one of the best out there but players need to not become too addicted and let it rule aspects of their life and remember it is just a game.
