We've all experienced it at some time, the feeling that something isn't right, an idea that will suddenly pop into your head, or feeling undecided and then just knowing what to do. These feelings and inner knowing are what is referred to as intuition; it is an inner knowing that is within all of us. Your intuition brings messages to you that can provide guidance in your life, and help you gain greater insight of yourself and others. By listening to the messages of your intuition and deciphering their meaning, you can also gain valuable spiritual insight, feeling more in touch with your spirit, your
Higher Power or the energies and wisdom around you.
Learning to develop your intuition can take time and patience. For some people it’s easier to get in touch with their inner knowing, but even for those who find it difficult it will become easier over time. The key word in developing your intuition is practice. There are various methods you can try to get in better touch with your intuition and, for the most part, they are very simple.
Meditation
Get in touch with your intuition through a daily meditation practice. By opening your mind and letting go of the "mind chatter", you will be able to better hear your inner wisdom. This practice of calming your mind and finding your center can then be carried with you throughout the day. It can help you release nonproductive thoughts that would otherwise keep you from hearing your intuitive messages.
Get in Tune with your Body
Pay attention to signals that your body may be sending you. You may get a tingling feeling along your spine if your intuition is warning you of danger. Or you may feel a warm, gentle feeling in your heart chakra if something is truly right for you. Pay attention to all of your senses to better learn the language of your intuition.
Believe in your Inner Wisdom
Sweep away preconceived ideas and judgments, allowing yourself to believe the value of your intuition. This may sound overly simple, but belief and positive thought can truly open the doorway of your inner wisdom.
Release the Need to Control
When it comes to our thoughts, the ego, which is our desires, needs, urges, etc., normally has the loudest voice. There's nothing wrong with the ego, and its strongest purpose is to protect us. But that protection can sometimes keep us in a state of fear. This leaves us doubting or second-guessing our intuition. In order to develop greater inner knowing, it's important to release the ego's need to control. Handing over that fear-based need to a Higher Power, or our Higher Self, can help us learn to better trust our intuition.
Listen to the messages that your intuition gives you and learn to trust those messages. With time and practice you will be able to freely access the wisdom of your spirit.
