In the small town of Bridgeview resided Michael Thomas, known to his friends to be a valuable addition to the basketball team and known to his teachers to be the ideal student. Most of the girls he knew all fell for him, but each and every time, he would break up with them because they just didn’t feel right. Wondering if he would ever find that perfect someone, Michael continued his high school career gloomily.
This all changed one day in physics. A girl walked in holding a pass with her books clutched to her chest. Michael glanced up from his test and took a peek at the newcomer and instantly, he was blown away. She was absolutely stunning and Michael thought that every part of her was perfect. He loved everything about her: hair, eyes, figure, clothes, attitude, face, and basically anything and everything else. Her gleaming brown hair flowed like a waterfall down the back of her neck, resting gently on her shoulders. Her eyes twinkled like the star as she smiled shyly to herself. As she passed him, Michael caught a whiff of her perfume, the smell of summer and lavender and tranquility. Michael knew on the spot that she was the one.
Days passed since his sudden realization and he made his move week later during lunch. She gave him a smile and introduced herself as Mindy as he sat down and he returned the favor while introducing himself. Her voice was that of an angel’s and the crisp sound of each syllable she uttered made Michael wonder if he was truly in heaven. The scene in the cafeteria would be the only time they actually had a conversation.
As more weeks passed, Mindy always greeted him in the halls yet, she never fell for him, never responded to his approaches, never showed any sign that she “like” liked him. Michael viewed in frustration as she joined the band and started hanging out more and more with one of the band geeks, a loser named Tyler.
Weeks passed and the school dance approached. Michael decided to try one more time and asked her to the dance but to his rage, she refused, saying that she was already going with her band friend. “No one has ever done this to me before, no one!” he thought to himself as he walked slowly away from her. “And for what? The stupid band geek? I can’t believe she would ditch me for that loser.” The rage he felt was new to Michael
