How to exercise and lose weight while watching TV

Regardless of tiring work shifts or other daily activities it seems most of us find time to relax in front of the television.  The invention of DVD's, DVR's, and TiVo has made it all too easy to vegetate in front of the television the remainder of our day.  Many of us find ourselves eating our meals and snacking while watching our favorite programs or movies.  The end results are complaints of packed on pounds of undesirable fat and broken promises to do something about it.  The good news is we can alter our daily routine and successfully wage war against excess weight.

We must commit ourselves to a reduction in calorie intake and an increase in activity.  No diet alone is every truly successful long term without including an exercise routine.  Use your television as a tool to aid in your quest for a slimmer body.  Exercising can become boring and seem like too much work for the weekly progress making it easy for us to abandon our new routine before we have hardly began.  The television can provide us with a pleasant distraction.  Place your exercise equipment in a room with a television and get up off the couch.  You will discover exercising makes us more committed to our dietary reduction and dieting makes us more committed to our exercise routine.  No one wants to destroy the great day we have had with our diet after following our exercise routine.  Likewise, no one wants to put forth the effort to exercise only to sabotage ourselves with added calories at the end of the day.

There are many pieces of exercise equipment to choose from which provide a good cardiovascular workout, endurance training, strength training, and toning.  There are also a good many exercises we can do that requires no equipment.

Stationary Bicycle

A stationary bicycle provides a cardiovascular workout and can help build stamina.  Many portable varieties are available as well as heavier duty models.  Riding a stationary bicycle is not as monotonous if done while watching an interesting television program.  This is one exercise we can do on a daily basis.

Stair Stepper

Stair steppers provide a complete lower body workout and increase lung capacity.  Many models are built with the capability to increase resistance.  Greater resistance helps firm and tone our legs.  Also available are portable, folding varieties for those of us with limited space for exercise equipment.  Add a twenty minute
