How to Stop Smoking | Methods of Quitting Smoking That Will Change Your Life
How to stop smoking...Do you need to know how to quit smoking? Quitting smoking is – to say the least – not at all a walk in the park; and a successful quit takes hard work and dedication. Only around half of those who try to quit smoking actually succeed; and here are some methods of how to stop cigarette smoking that will help you be a non smoker among the longer living half!
Commit
The first step in learning how to stop smoking and becoming a non smoker is making the absolute decision to follow through and quit smoking. Nothing can happen without this vital step. Remember...All you're doing at this point is committing to 2 things: A date and a willingness to do a bit of work. Set your quit smoking date at least 2 weeks from the time you decide to quit smoking if you are unsure about your decision so you can get as much strength gathered as possible by the time it rolls around.
Now don't think that you're going to be able to get away with setting a date down the road and doing nothing but enjoying your cigarette smoking until then; quitting takes work and it starts before your quit date.
Get to Work
After you decide to learn how to stop smoking once and for all, there are 2 tasks you should complete right away: A list of reasons why you want/need to quit and a recovery track list. Your list of reasons can include anything from health or finances to productivity at work or family matters and everything in between – whatever means the most to you, as long as it's from the heart.
Next, create a recovery track list for keeping track of your cravings and smoking habits. To build a recovery track list create 4 columns: The time your craving hit, the time you smoked – if at all, why you wanted to smoke, and what you could do differently. Keep your recovery track list and your list of quit reasons with you at all times so you are able to keep track of your quit and keep strength not smoking each time you have a craving.
The tracking of your cravings should begin before you smoke your first cigarette after creating a recovery track list. Remember to try to put off every cigarette - if only long enough to take notes on your recovery track list. Regular commitment will help keep you on track for quitting right on schedule.
Start Cutting Down
As you progress closer and closer to your quit date, start decreasing your cigarette intake - even if only by one every
