With you, I felt the tide
In darkness, arms around me
Something primordial...ancient stirs
It calls me
I answer
With a sirens song
caught in the ecstasy of something Older's net
I pause as though to come up for breath
All I imbibe is water
and salt
It mingles with the blood within me
so if I slit myself against coral
I could call sharks with it
and they would devour me...their kin
Instead, I let the ebb and flow take me
the water my bed
pick me up
and carry me
in your sanctified embrace
cleansed with water and salt
Your voice is my lure
Calling me close
dancing out of reach
I am following.
I dash resistance against rocks
The gossamer attempts drift with the tide
Your touch roars in my ears
Murmured words make me move in an aquatic dance
And as I crest each wave with a rock of your boat
I feel the tidal pool within
cry for release
so I cling to you
My rocking ship
In oceanic finality
We slip against the rocky shores
Shattering mortal frailty
Rippling against each other with every break
That primal water
Cleansing
Purifying
Flowing
Cresting
Healing
I cry out with a dolphin's call
As my movements incite the sea foam to fly
And wild horses spring from these waves
Poseidon's children
My brothers and sisters of the waves
They give their watery blessing with the rise and fall
of each swell
But no.
I cannot just float in the tide
For you are my domain
I take my sup upon a distant shore
wishing
I could drink the elixir of life
from your goblet
A remnant of our memories
Caught in a nautilus
overflowing as I tip the shell to my lips
To drink of your ambrosia
As though I could capture your voice
In that primal spiral
And you would sing to me forever
