Poetry: Love unfolds

by Stephanie Small

Created on: February 06, 2011

Dance under darkened skies
or maybe
To the glow of a monitor
love unfolds

Music fills our heads, lulls me
As you pull me close, dancing, a sway, sway, sway

Until now I have been catching flies
In butterfly nets,
using beauty and catching carrion
Seeking, wondering at the flash of wings
Drawn to the wrong shape
The wrong size

Pretty insects
Drawn to the lights glow.

But perhaps it should have been butterflies
or fireflies
or perhaps not an insect at all

But secrets released like a swarm
To buzz in my mind and heart,
stinging for your absence
The virulent blaze only that much brighter

drawing you in
entrapping you
like it captures me
drawn in close, with bells and banners
and love unfolds
