Hosting friends for the Super Bowl should be a fun filled evening of camaraderie and excitement. Great finger foods make serving much easier for the host or hostess and really please the guests. Listed below are some ideas to assist you in planning your party menu.
Anytime football is involved in a group get together men are sure to be in attendance. Most men prefer finger foods with some substance to them and are very fond of chicken wings, hot or barbecued. It is much more economical to make your own as opposed to purchasing the ready made frozen variety. Allow at least three to four wings per person.
Hot Wings
Ingredients:
Fresh chicken wings, rinsed and drained
Flour
Salt
Black Pepper
1 Stick butter, melted
1/2 Cup Tabasco sauce
Canola Oil
Directions:
1. Place canola oil in deep fryer and preheat.
2. Rinse and drain chicken wings. Cut wing tips off at the joint and discard.
3. Add salt and pepper, to taste, to flour.
4. Place stick of butter in a small sauce pan and melt. Add Tabasco sauce and stir. Turn heat down to lowest setting to keep sauce warm while frying the wings.
5. Roll wings in flour and drop into hot oil. Fry to a golden brown.
6. Remove wings from hot oil and drain for a minute on paper toweling and toss into the sauce. Drain and remove to serving tray and serve immediately.
Honey Barbecue Wings
Some guests may prefer honey barbecue wings to hot wings. Follow directions in step one and two above. Do not add salt and pepper to flour for honey barbecue wings.
To create the sauce, add 1/3 part pure honey to 2/3 part Kraft Original Barbecue Sauce. Mix well and set aside. Line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
After deep frying and draining on paper toweling, dip each wing in the honey barbecue mixture. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit approximately 10 minutes to heat sauce through and allow it to soak into the coating.
Cocktail Sausages
Ingredients:
2-5 pounds of Lil' Smokies Cocktail Sausages
2 pound jar grape jelly
8 ounces yellow mustard
Directions:
1. In medium saucepan add grape jelly and mustard. Bring to medium heat and stir until jelly has melted and ingredients are thoroughly mixed.
2. Place cocktail sausages and jelly/mustard mixture in a slow cooker on the low setting.
3. Allow
