Hotel horror stories

Ours is also a Vegas horror story involving bedbugs, but we thought were were staying in a hotel a bit higher on the food chain than a Motel 6. It was a so-called resort property right on the Strip, and we had stayed there several times a year for at least five years. And we were always satisfied with the cleanliness.

On our last visit ... and it sure as hell WILL be our last visit ... we had twin beds. On the first morning, as my spouse was dressing, I noticed little red marks on her back and legs. After Navy experience living in some tropical areas with much lower cleanliness standards than in the US, I knew immediately there was an infestation of bedbugs.

We pulled the sheets back and saw a dozen of the little beasts, all fat with blood they had taken during the night. We immediately called the front desk and were offered another room down the hall. Did they really think we were stupid enough to move just a couple of doors away from the infested room? A few minutes later a security guard with a Polaroid camera came up and took some photos. The camera was a cheap tourist model and all the photos were blurred. We knew he had just been sent up to placate us, with no action taken to clean up the mess.

Since we had stayed at this same hotel so many times before, we agreed to take a room on another floor, That PROVED how stupid we were, expecting anything in the hotel to be without bedbugs. We should have demanded a refund and gone to another hotel for the rest of our stay. However, the next two nights were uneventful, or the bugs were working elsewhere. Of course, we checked the sheets many times in the second room.

According to the latest Vegas news, the hotel is scheduled to be imploded within a year, so if it had any kind of decent cleanliness standards before, there's a reason the bedbug problem wasn't cleaned up. The owners just don't give a damn about the suckers who stay there and get their blood sucked out.
