College basketball predictions: 2007 March Madness upsets

Now that the field has been set, it is time to look forward and see which lower seeded teams could emerge victorious and who might be this year's cinderella. As always, there are a number of under the radar teams that could make an impact. With more parity in the field of 65 than many past years, the 2007 NCAA tourney should not diappoint. Now, on to the potential upsets.

Old Dominion vs. Butler - I like Old Dominion to pull off the upset here and perhaps in round 2, depending on which Maryland team shows up. Butler, in my opinion, is overrated and the Monarchs have had a very solid season and have shown they can play. Remember, they beat Georgetown early in the season.

Georgia Tech vs. UNLV - Tech should take the Rebels in this one. Seasoned by a tough ACC schedule in which they played well down the stretch, they should be ready to topple a decent UNLV team. Also, look for Tech to play well against, if not beat Wisconsin in the second round. The Yellow Jackets match up quite well with the Badgers.

Oral Roberts vs. Washington State - Oral Roberts beat Kansas in Novemmber. Look for them to upset overrated Washington State. ORU can run the ball and can certainly keep up with the higher seeded team here. Watch out for the Golden Eagles!

Texas Tech vs. Boston College - Bob Knight's team should be ready to play against a struggling BC club. I like the Red Raiders to upset a stronger BC team that just hasn't been able to get things together lately.

Nevada vs. Creighton - I like Fazekas and Nevada here over a tough Creighton team. But, I also think that Nevada will take down Memphis in the second round by slowing down the ball. Look for Nevada (or even Creighton if they win) to end up in the sweet 16.

Will there be another George Mason this year? Probably not. But, if any real underdog is poised to make a run, I'd but my money on Old Dominion. Don't say I didn't tell you so.
