Why some people cannot succeed

The main reason people cannot succeed is their attitude, their way of looking at things. It is amazing how just a shift in attitude can make a difference in your life and open your eyes to opportunities that normally elude most people. A lot of people do not take the time to develop the qualities that are common to all successful people such as patience, hard work and discipline. They don’t take charge of their lives and instead blame their circumstances, or the competition, or the people that surround them.

A good example of how your attitude can determine the success you have is of American rapper Jay-Z. After repeatedly being rejected by various labels Jay-Z instead used this rejection to his advantage by being one of the first rappers to start their own record labels. Jay-Z teamed up with friend Damon Dash and started Roc-a-fella records and began working on his first album. Instead of wishing that things were different and giving up like most people do he instead used to his advantage and years later sold the label for millions of dollars to Def Jam. This example illustrates how having a positive attitude can be the difference between success and failure and in fact he was in a better position owning his own record label instead of being tied down to someone else’s.

People who are not successful usually do not have goals in mind. They start on something without thinking of an end in mind and as a result they just drift from activity to activity, job to job, without really knowing where they are going. People who are successful set goals for themselves and are willing to wait for them to come to fruition. Richard Branson talks about this in his book Screw it let’s do it. People are successful are dreamers when setting their goals and realists when setting a deadline for those goals. They think several steps ahead and foresee problems before they arise and prepare for them.

One quality that all successful people have, that if one wishes to be successful should learn is that of delaying immediate gratification. In a society that nowadays promotes immediate gratification, successful people must go against the grain and learn to be patient in order to achieve something great. One great example of this is the supplement industry. Walk into a pharmacy and you will see many products that claim to be able to help you gain tons of muscle in a very short amount of time with little or no effort at all. People want to
