Nighthouse
Amidst the chaos factory rumble
of portable airconditioner;
Through the shrilly clinking bells which hang
from cats' collars;
In the mad scrabble of many claws for purchase
on abused wooden floors;
Under the shrieking sirens racing
to keep the peace in the streets;
Around the clattering trundle
of feet up stairs;
Two people fall endlessly
into a few
minutes
of sleep
at a time.
