Novel excerpts: Paranormal romance

Savannah was happy to be out on Halloween, though it had never been one of her favorite holidays in the past. For children it was a night to play fantasy and get more candy than they could eat in a month, but for the adults, it always seemed like just another reason to get drunk and hit on strangers. And where was the fun in that? But something about this night had finally called to her.

Maybe there really was magic in the air blending the worlds of the supernatural with that of the “normal folk”. Who really knew? She had certainly never seen anything supernatural in her lifetime, but if so many people truly believed they were witches or had seen the otherwise unexplainable, then who was she to judge what was real and what was fantasy?

And all of those warm bodies crammed into the small rooms had made the heat so overbearing she could barely breathe at times.

Walking into the virtually empty establishment, Savannah took the first seat she could find at the bar, Morgan following right behind her.

“Welcome to The Howling Moon ladies. What can I get you to drink?” Savannah looked up to find a middle aged man dressed in a white shirt and black pants standing behind the bar. He was still good looking, with a full head of brown hair, though it was
