Reflections: Love

by Stephanie Monroy

Created on: January 28, 2011

Love is a never ending rat race, that we, I will never give up. Those who say they have, are only lying to themselves. But I feel their pain. frustration. Giving up is so easy, in some cases even satisfying. In the quest to find the one who will complete you, and bring meaning to your life. It is a sad, long, and hard journey almost always. Whether you have a full filling life, or looking for something to fill it with. Love is always the go to. Why? Well besides the obvious, we've been computed to believe that this is man kinds ultimate prize. Let's face it, when your in love, life seems to be better, tolerable. To be consumed by this euphoric feeling, to long for someone who feels the exact same way about you. Well that's as good as it gets, for us anyways.

Is it really cynical, or disturbing for women to fantasize about their potential, or future husband, when they have only been on a few dates? Is it not healthy to dream big, as long as it's healthy, and not obsessive? You have to admire them. No matter how many times they're hearts have been broken, they keep getting up, going out there, and trying again. Although men can love just as hard as women, they don't love as hard as often. We are constantly changing, evolving, growing. You would think that after many experiences of heartache, we would learn to see the signs, yet we continue to be deceived. Is it our judgment, or does love bear the exception to all the experience we may have gained? When will we finally say enough? If so could we really say goodbye to love?

What about that saying "Your nobody, till somebody loves you?" Could that really be true? Yes you can be happy alone, content with your life, and your accomplishments. But in the end, you will always long for someone to share it with. The signs are all around us. Internet dating sites, blind dates, ads in the news paper. Could people be more desperate to find someone to love them? I find them brave. For someone to be willing to put themselves out there, in order to find their true love, well that takes courage. How far would you go for love? Although your heart may be broken numerous times before you find the one, in the end it's all worth it. After all what's a life without a soul mate?

So will I, or others ever stop looking for love? I think not, and thank God for that.
