Super bowl parties are a mix of excitement and celebration. Traditional super snacks are wings, pizza, and anything fast, easy, and delicious.
Make snacks for the pre-game show like wings and keep warm in a slow cooker.
~Spicy Hot Wings~
3 lbs chicken wings
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp lime juice
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp salt
3 bottles hot sauce containing habanero or scotchbonnet pepper
Clean chicken wings. Mix olive oil and lime juice, and lightly brush each wing. Mix onion, garlic, paprika, and salt. Sprinkle wings with seasoning.
Put wings in a single layer in a large roasting pan. Bake uncovered in a 375-degree oven for 1 hour turning the wings midway.
Empty hot sauce in a bowl. Dip each cooked wing in the sauce and put it in a slow cooker. Pour leftover hot sauce over chicken wings. Heat slow cooker on warm.
~Pizza by the yard~
Pizza is another super bowl favorite and very easy to make. Choose a loaf of French or Italian, sweet bread or firm crusty variety.
1 loaf bread (about 18” long)
1 lb ground beef
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
1/2 tsp crushed oregano
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1/3 cup grated parmesan cheese
1/4 cup chopped black olives
1 (6 oz) can tomato paste
3 medium tomatoes (thinly sliced)
6 slices mozzarella cheese (halved diagonally)
Cut loaf lengthwise in half and set aside. Brown ground beef with onion, oregano, salt, and pepper. Add parmesan cheese, olives, and tomato paste. Spread meat mixture evenly over bread halves. Alternate slices of tomato and cheese on top. Put under broiler for 1 to 2 minutes until cheese begins to melt. Cut each half in 4 or 5 slices.
~Taco Tackle Dip~
A savory dip served with Tostitos chips is easy to prepare the night before and ready on game day.
2 cans bean dip
3 ripe avocados
2 tbsp lemon juice
1/2 salt 1/2 tsp pepper
1 cup sour cream
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 pkg taco seasoning mix
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1/4 cup chopped green onions
1/2 cup chopped tomato
Spread bean dip evenly in the bottom of an 8x8 baking pan. Mix avocado, lemon juice, salt and pepper. Spread over the top of bean dip. Mix sour cream mayonnaise, and taco seasoning. Spread on top of avocado. Layer cheese, green onions, and tomato on top. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
~Fruit Salsa with Cinnamon Nacho Chips~
For that “something sweet” hungry feeling, try a fruit salsa snack with crispy cinnamon chips.
3 kiwi fruit (peeled and chopped)
2 medium apples (peeled, cored, chopped)
2 cups strawberries (halved and chopped)
