Poetry: Words you'll never read

-My Girl-

I called your name
I said it twice
Was there anything else
That would suffice

For you, you're my girl

I bought you that ring
I saw you looking at
It wouldn't fit
And you called yourself fat

But you're not, you're my girl

I got it resized
To fit your slender hand
The one that I kiss
I know it's in such demand

But it was mine, you're my girl

I gave it to you

On that fateful day
You accepted the gift
In such a hateful way

But you weren't mad, you're my girl

You said "It won't fit
I don't know why you tried"
I said "put it on
Or I'll make you cry"

But I wouldn't, you're my girl

Then you slipped it on
And looked at me
I then kissed your cheek
And watched each turn pink

I told you then, you're my girl

I gave you my heart
So it was only yours
I worked so hard
Leading double-shift tours

But only for you, you're my girl

On the first year
We had been going out
The anniversary
Of my life beginning to sprout

You hurt me, you're my girl

You wanted us to be "Just Friends"
But the best of them
I loved you dearly so I said
"Friends till the very end"

Even though it pains me, you're my girl

You poured out your soul
After we became "friends"
But never dated another
But I knew how you loved following trends

Because I know you, you're my girl

I asked you one day
But all that you said
Was "I'm sorry. I just can't explain.
The situation is way over your head"

But I had my doubts, you're my girl

You disappeared from my life
The following day
I called your old job
Your old home until May

But I knew you weren't missing, you're my girl

A year later
I stand here today
I finally found you
Love's powerful that way

Ours is because, you're my girl

I look at your grave
Tearing up in the rain you see
You learned you had cancer
Right before you broke up with me

You tried to protect me, because, you're my girl

But even in death
I love you more every day
And to me you're alive
In my heart and memory

So I wrote you this song, since, you're my girl

I leave these few roses
Blue, since you hate red
But I kissed every thorn and petal
Until they were stained the color you dread

I love you, you're my girl
