What happens after we die?

Where do we go when we die? Do we go to heaven or to hell? Do we really live on in another place? What happens when we die? Many people ask these questions daily. Many people are afraid of dying. I used to be afraid of dying but after learning the truth of what happens when we do die, I'm not afraid of dying. Although, I still don't what to die.

Where are the dead? The Bible says this of the dead in Genesis 3:19 "In the sweat of your face you will eat bread until you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken. For dust you are an to dust you will return."  So, in other words we are dust and when we die we will return to dust. But, a lot of people would say that only our bodies will return to dust but our spirit will live on. So, what does the Bible say about our spirit?

Well Psalms 146:4 says "His spirit goes out, he goes back to his ground. In that day his thoughts do perish."  Well, here it is telling us that our spirit goes back into the ground and our thoughts perish. So, in other words our spirit does not live on either.

Ecclesiastes 9:5 tells us the condition of the dead. For it reads "The living are conscious that they will die, but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all."  So, we are the living because we know that one day we will die. But, after we are dead we do not nothing nothing or we will not feel nothing.

But, did you know that the Bible also gives us hope for us in the future? John 5:28, 29 says "Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgement."

God also promises this in the future.  Psalms 37:10, 11 says  "And just a little while longer, and the wicked one will be no more, And you will certainly give attention to his place and he will not be. But the meek ones themselves will possess the earth and they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundanceof peace."  This Bible verse is the reason I'm not afraid of dying because the one doing God's will, has a chance of living forever on the earth, and in peace. Because  Psalms 37:29 says "The righteous themselves will possess the earth and they will reside forever upon it."   See, here it is promising that we are going to live forever on earth. It does not say that we will be either in heaven or hell.

If you really study the Bible you can learn the real truth, if you want to learn what the Bible really teaches. Jehovah's Witnesses will be glad to give you a free home Bible study. You can also check out their website at  www.watchtower.org for more information.
