The amazing Amazon Kindle has rocked the world with its superb features bringing a new area on the portable e-book readers industry. 6’ screen display, E-ink technology, 16 scales of grey, sleek design, built-in Wi-Fi and thousands of e-books available are only some of them. The Kindle has evolved over the last years allowing its users to visit web pages, check emails, browse photo albums, take notes or even save and print screenshots straight from their device.

Capturing a screenshot can be very useful when needing to save a specific image, share it and print it. All you need is a Kindle USB cable, free space on your Kindle and a pc.

In particular:

1. Turn on your Kindle and locate the page or image you wish to save.

2. Press ‘Alt’, ‘Shift’ and ‘G’ and wait until the screen flashes. If not, try again.

3. Connect your Kindle to your pc via the USB cable. It is best to connect it to a high-speed port on your computer to enable fast transfer.

4. Wait for a few seconds until your computer detects your device. The Autoplay menu will launch prompting you to view the inner files and folders. If not, click on the ‘My Computer’ icon on your desktop and double-click on ‘Kindle’.

5. Locate the ‘Documents’ folder and double-click on it. You screenshot was saved as a gif file with a ‘screenshot’ filename. Copy and paste it to your computer’s desktop.

6. Highlight the screenshot file, right-click on it and choose ‘Print’. In some cases, you may actually need to use ‘Paint’ or any other designated program to print your screenshot.

7. Alternatively, if you own a Kindle with an external memory card, you can save a screenshot by pressing ‘Alt’, ‘Shift’ and ‘G’, remove the card and then connect it to a USB card reader on your computer. Print the screenshot as any other gif file or document.

Saving Passages

1. To save a passage, simply highlight the content you wish as you usually do when saving notes and select "Clip this article" from Kindle’s menu.

2. Connect your Kindle to your pc via USB cable, open up the ‘Documents’ section and locate the ‘“My Clippings. Txt” folder. Double-click on it and then copy-paste your screenshot to your desktop. Print as usual.

Important Tips

- Amazon uses a protection protocol for specific e-books or files to prevent illegal copyright.

- Keep in mind that the Kindle only supports and saves files in scales of grey.

- If you wish to change your screenshot’s size, then open the file with ‘Paint’ or any other app and resize it.

- Share your screenshot via email. Use the ‘Attach’ feature and email it to your recipients.
