Yes, the Mayans were right about 2012. The Mayan Long Count calendar does in fact circumnavigate a complete circle necessitating beginning again at one around 2012. What this means is the precession of the Equinoxes will now move us into the Age of Aquarius and out of The Age of Pisces (Nazarene, The Fisher kings, etc…). While this does in fact usher in an era independent of Jesus, it does not indicate anything more ominous than any other time a new age occurs.
We can thank Akhenaten for this…The reason Akhenaten demonstrably began monotheism devoid of idolatry is most likely due to the civil wars idolatry created. When the Age of Aries transitioned into the Age of Taurus, the laity were told they needed to stop worshipping rams and begin worshipping bulls. Some people embraced this notion without problems however many did not embrace this notion choosing to continue worshipping rams. This created enormous civil unrest. The only way to circumvent this problem every +-2,700 years was to begin worshipping the all-seeing, all-knowing God behind the mechanisms and motions of the constellations.
This religious orientation was continued by such luminaries as Moses, Aaron (Egyptians), Jesus, and so on. More importantly, it has not changed since year zero, which is more likely set at the beginning of the Age of Pisces than the birth of Christ who is believed to be born in either 4, or 7 BC?
It remains uncertain if the question, “were the Mayans right about 2012,” actually means. The Mayan Long Count calendar is incredibly accurate therefore; it is about as right about 2012 as any other part it calculates. If what is meant is that, something ominous is going to happen. Historically, the only thing ominous about the beginning of a new age is the civil unrest explained about. So, if bunches of people decide to get upset about the age of Pisces (and the corresponding Fisher kings including Jesus) passing and the new Age of Aquarius beginning. The only ominous events will in fact, be created by the social and civil unrest associated with those who would have us believe there is something significant about precession and worldly events. That is, people will create the ominous event, it will not occur independent and of itself. In addition, like any circle, the Mayan Long Count Calendar will very accurately calculate the days until the Age of Aquarius ends and the new Age of Capricorn begins.
