Exploring capitalism and democracy

The Constitution doesn’t say directly that capitalism is the economic system chosen for Americans but is the only one that fits the political system. Let us examine The Declaration Of Independence: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed”. 

All men are created equal under the law and each individual has the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. There are many political systems but they are all the same except representative democracy. They are all the same, except representative democracy, because they all control economic activities through government. In a representative democracy the means of production are controlled by the people and government collect taxes from the people for the common defense and for general welfare according to the Constitution. The rest is for the people to extend themselves through private property and the pursuit of happiness. If the Constitution doesn’t prohibit capitalism and the free market economy, then it is the right of the people.

If we have the right to liberty then we have the right to do anything except violating the God given rights to each individual. Remember, government, according to The Declaration Of Independence is a protector of rights given to us by God (life, liberty and pursuit of happiness). Our laws derived from these basic rights. It is because of these basic rights that we can create products and exchange it for money or any other value. The Constitution or any of the sacred Documents prohibit that exchange because it is not a violation of our basic rights. 

If government tries, and they are doing it in violation of the Constitution, to control the means of productions, then it is not a representative democracy but a Monarchy which is the same as socialism, communism, fascism and all the rest of the “ism”. When government controls the means of productions I mean, in America, controlling prices of private companies products, deciding who they have to hire and how much money they most pay its employees.  I know many people feel sorry for other people but this is not an objective method to decide what is the right thing to do according to our constitutional rights. When an elected government official places his or her hand on the Bible to declare he or she is going to protect and defend the Constitution, that is what they are suppose to do or they are lying if they have the intention of not doing so and so they do.

Freedom even gives rights to people to say whatever they want except violating other people’s rights. First amendment clearly states: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances”. The bottom line is that Representative Democracy and capitalism go together. Capitalism is what most people choose to make a living, either by operating a business of their own or working for a company that belongs to the private sector.
