Ghost Mom- Part One- Mom returns
"But Gina, I thought your mother was dead?"
I had slipped again. Standing in the school hallway, talking to my friend, Carolyn. We had been discussing our upcoming Algebra test
"I hope my Mother knows her Algebra" I had said, knowing that she was always willing to help me with my homework."
But I had let that slip, because everyone knew that my mother had been killed in an automobile accident last year.
"Oh, Carol, laughed, "You misunderstood me. I said my BROTHER!"
"Like your little brother would know Algebra?" she laughed, looking at me strangely. Timmy was only eight years old.
She finally let it drop, but it was so hard NOT to talk about my mother. You see, I saw her everyday.
The first time I saw her, it really scared me. But, there she was, standing in my bedroom just as real and alive as she ever was!
"Mom,?" I had gasped, falling back on my bed, stunned. "How...?" I stammered.
She walked over to me and took me in her arms, hugging me. I could smell her perfume and the sweet aroma of her hair. It felt so good, but I knew something wasn't right. My mom was dead!
"Oh, Gina, Sweetheart..." she said, "I didn't mean to frighten you. I just love you so much, I couldn't stay away. I had to see you."
"Do you want me to stay?" she asked, her big blue eyes widening, "If you’re frightened, and want me to leave, I will."
"Oh NO Mom,!" I cried, falling back into her arms, holding her tight. "Don't ever leave me again. I've missed you so terribly!"
"Then I will be here for you." she said "But you mustn't tell anyone that I'm here, not your Daddy, not even Timmy" she added. "He’s too young." she added. That first time that Mom came to me, we sat up, long into the night and just talked.
I had finally fallen asleep and when I woke, I thought I had dreamed about seeing Mom again. But it had been so real. It had left me with a good feeling, and I could still feel her arms around me. I took my shower and went back into my bedroom to get dressed for school.
"Honey, that sweater just doesn't go well with those pants."
I swirled around from my mirror, and there she was again! It took me a minute to realize that I hadn't been dreaming.
"Mom!" I yelled, shocked, "You really are here. I wasn't dreaming!"
She laughed that tinkling laugh of hers that I'd always loved. "Yes, Sweetie, I'm really here." She was
