Sorry guys and girls because this is not going to be kind.

It may be unfair, it may be narrow minded and it may be a double standard but girls who have sex on the first date are very unlikely to be respected and pursued for a relationship. Who wants to buy the cow when they can get the milk for free?

That's not to say that having sex on the first date is a deadly sin and no one should ever do it, but you need to think about what your ultimate goal is. If you're looking for some fun or short term satisfaction then there is nothing wrong with sex on the first date, both people know what's on the agenda and no one's getting hurt. If, on the other hand, you want a deep and meaningful relationship then it should be a marathon, not a sprint.

Sex within a relationship should be an expression of your feelings for eachother and something that is earnt over time and the deepening of the bond between you. Moreover, on an almost caveman level, a man needs to feel that he has won his woman. Whether we like it or not, the chase is as important as the relationship that follows and the build up and anticipation gives both people time to get to know eachother and fall for eachother.

The bottom line is that if you know you are looking for a serious relationship, sleeping with someone on the first date is probably not the wisest move. There really is no rush and anyone who puts pressure on you should ring alarm bells as to their suitability as a mate.
