Money does not bring happiness

by Wayne Leon Learmond

Created on: January 22, 2011

Money has as much power as you wish to place on it. Money can either bring you happiness or sadness in equal measure. Yet, it is no surprise that those who have money, are still some of the most miserable people around. On the other hand, those who have very little money are nearly always the first to give the most.  They have an inner happiness and contentment about them that most of the rich do not have.

Who gives the most to charities, equal to their wealth? It is the poor every single time. It is those who do not have, that offer up all that they have. A rich man or woman may offer a million dollars or more to a charity, but the amount they give still does not equal the amount they have.

Sure, it would make that charity, or poor person, extremely happy to receive a million dollars. Yet the point of the matter here is that the poor give all that they have while the rich do not. A million dollars is nothing to those who have it, and small change to multi-millionaires who do not really need it.

However, no matter how much money you may have, having money is no guarantee of happiness. Life is so much more than that. When one has countless millions to spend, what do you spend it on? If you have bought everything that your heart desires and more, what else is there to purchase?

When one has so much money life can become 'warped' and twisted. You cannot tell your true friends from your enemies because of your money...what then is the point of money? How can you tell that people want you for you, and not for your finances? The truth be told, you cannot.  And, it is because of this one question, that many multi-millionaires are very unhappy and do not really have a true friend at all. How many are forever wondering whether that person's' intentions is true or false?  Truth be told, nine times out of ten, they are false.

Unhappiness comes because you are not content within yourself deep inside you.  This, despite your millions, and no matter how much money you may have, there is something missing, deep inside you. Call it a longing, to wipe falsehood away, a longing for people to be straight with you, and to not see you as a 'bank' but rather, to see you as 'you'. You are always living on the edge, always wary, and never sure about people or their motives. Having so much money can get you like this, and it can turn you into something that you do not wish to be.

When you have so much money you may purchase your cars,
