Game ideas for a wedding shower

The main purpose of a wedding shower is to "shower" a bride with support, affection, and with loving and thoughtful gifts. It is a time to celebrate the commitment of marriage with friends and loved ones.

One of the most anticipated events of a wedding shower and the most memorable are the games and activities. Having a good amount and variety of fun and interesting games can make the difference between a having a successful shower or a mediocre one.



These are excellent ideas for wedding shower games that are sure to grab the attention of your guests and make for a fun event.

The Mystery Spice Game:

You will need 10 different spice jars for this fun guessing game such as ginger, chili powder, sage, nutmeg, cinnamon, garlic, curry powder and thyme. Number the jars 1 through 10. Give each guest a paper and pencil. Then pass the jars around the room one at a time.

The guests can not taste or touch the spices but instead must guess what each one is by smell and sight. The winner is the one who has the most correct answers.

The Word Scrabble Game:

All of the words must be related to love and marriage. You will need a timer for this game. The guest who unscrambles the most words in three minutes is the winner.

The word list: MEYCENRO, OGMOR, DXTOUE,AROENMC, SRLOPAOP, SBIDERSDAMI, ARBDILWNOG, EGATNEGNEM, SRGNI, IBRED.

The answers to the words: ceremony, groom, tuxedo, romance, proposal, bridesmaids, bridal gown, engagement, rings, bride.

Wedding Shower Scavenger Hunt:

This game takes place inside the guests' purses. Set the timer for four minutes. See how many items each guest can find in her own purse. The guest with the most points is the winner.

Twenty points per item found: A hundred dollar bill, dental floss, dictionary, magnifying glass, cotton swab, pair of gloves, photo of their mother, cigar, cell phone, silver dollar coin, toothbrush, smelling salts, nail polish remover, alarm clock, pocket knife, candy bar and a piece of fruit.

Ten points per item found: Postage stamp, pencil with eraser, address book, mascara, pain reliever, tweezers, breath mints, calculator, shipping list, scissors, cloth handkerchief, eyelash curler, face powder, rubber band, nail clippers, zip-top plastic bag and a notebook.

Five points per item found: Lipstick or chap stick, hand lotion, regular mirror, sunglasses, credit card, chewing gum, hair comb, nail file, tissue, eyeglasses, photos of children and a pen.
