I’ve chosen to stand by the side of, "Yes," on this particular debate because I believe that thoughts become things. What we collectively believe becomes our reality, and besides, a positive attitude might be the only way to save the United States from the division political rhetoric creates. Then again, if you are anywhere close to my age, you’ll be amazed at the historical change we’ve witnessed in our life time. Because that’s true, we need to honor men like Dr. Martin Luther King, who sacrificed his life for our civil rights. At the very least, it’s time we become more civil and respectful when we fight for what is right. Patriots and innocent people are the cost when we don’t.
What we’ve sacrificed is exactly why we must discuss the need to behave in civil ways and resolve this hate based issue, once and for all. Some things have yet to change and when people get paid to make Americans hate and distrust their own freely elected government, it does more harm than good. It’s not patriotic to distrust anyone or anything you claim to love or be a member of. The government is us, people like you and me. It’s our hate that creates huge social issues, not to mention the negative and toxic energy that brews into a bitter stew. All it does is poison us.
It seems that we forget where we’ve already been, and we become our own worst enemy when we forget what our history taught us not to do ever again. That’s why some facts remain the same as the day Martin Luther King passed away. It feels like deja vu to people my age, and I believe that’s why the subject of civility and justice came up almost immediately after the Arizona shootings. If we don’t discuss what could otherwise become our disgrace, too many patriots die in vain.
When it comes to the violent carnage of that tragic day, there’s no single American to blame, not even the one American who shot down innocent victims. He was insane and we can’t rationalize or explain the actions of the insane. Even so, historically we know that when someone is crazy in the first place, and then, they are fed the anti-government opinionated views, false information, misinterpretations, propaganda and down right lies day after day and half of every night, they go totally insane with rage. Why are we
