When teenage girls first start using makeup they are exploring how to enhance their beauty. They get their ideas from television, magazines, and beauty pageants which can cause a makeup disaster. What they don't have is years of real life experience. In order to provide a little insight for them, here are three big beauty tip solutions for girls to try.
Less is more
This is always the first tip to applying makeup. Most parents have one or two fights with their teen over applying so much that they end up looking like a working girl or a clown. The tip here is to wear makeup so that it enhances their own true beauty. If they have big lashes some mascara will make them pop. If their skin has a break out a little concealer will make the flaws smaller in appearance. Blush should only be done around the cheek bones so that the whole face doesn't end up looking look red, although baby pink is the best color for teens to start with. They might not see this at first because they want to do what their friends are doing, but they'll soon come around.
Natural colors and matching colors
Looking at a palette of bright neon eye colors may make anyone want to try some, but though it looks pretty it doesn't always look pretty on someone's face. There are some things to consider when choosing a color. Does it match your eyes? Does it match your shirt color? Is it a natural color? If it doesn't match your shirt, doesn't match your eyes, and isn't very natural then it may be a bad choice. If a girl wears a purple dress to a school dance, purple is perfectly acceptable for an eye shadow color. Purple wouldn't be an acceptable color for a lipstick shade however. For example, when a person picks a concealer they have it match their skin tone. Lipstick is similar in that it should be red, pink, or clear unless the dance happens to be a Halloween dance. When a teen picks out eye shadow it is always good purchase at least one color that matches their eye color, one lipstick that goes good with their lip and skin color, and one concealer that matches their skin tone.
Staying inside the lines
When your teen was younger they learned to color inside the lines. This is very important with makeup also. Lipstick obviously looks good inside of the lines. Some lip liner is a good practice tool so that if you trace their lips for them, they can color inside the lines. The same concept is a starter point with eye shadow. When a woman gets older they explore using dark green inside the eye crease and light green on the edge of the crease to have a duo of color. When a teen tries they end up with bright blue eye shadow up to their eyebrows. So in other words, with teens it can be best to tell them to only color inside the lines for now. As for concealer, this can be trouble. There are certain rules like not using it too close to the eyes because any dark circles under the eyes will turn grey. Some teens also apply concealer just to the edge of their face. This creates a visible line which should be blended, so blending tools for teen girls is a must.
When it comes to teen girls and makeup, sitting down and having a little talk about where beauty comes from can be really helpful in showing them that they are already beautiful. If they still want makeup after talking then these few tips can help them look like a beautiful young person that knows very well how to apply their makeup.
