Fate brought me to your side on that cold dark night
as you lay bleeding on the icy ground
to weak to stand or call for help
I nearly walked past you
Fate let me hear you over cars racing past
no one knew you were there
your life draining away, alone and scared
For years I took another path home, but not that day
Fate brought another along when my cell phone went dead
we called an ambulance and worked together to keep you alive
He held my hand as I held yours and we three waited
each praying silently on that cold dark street
Fate brought help in time to save you
many worked tireless to bring you back
You are now our dearest friend
and he is my soul mate

and now your anger has decreed
my punishment to clean my room
to sweep and polish, shine
