No. Absolutely not. Most TV shows today do not portray my Catholic Christian lifestyle; especially when it comes to sex, marriage, family, and relationships.
In the old days of television, you had shows that featured married couples who were faithful and committed to each other. They stayed pure, chaste, and virgins until the wedding night. You never heard Ward and June Cleaver tell each other that they're each having an affair, or that Beaver and Wally may not be their kids; or even having them out of wedlock.
Children also had respect for their parents, teachers, and others in authority. You never saw Beaver Cleaver or Opie Taylor taking a gun or knife to school; or go through any metal detectors.
Women also stayed home and took care of the house and their families. The kids were not left with a babysitter or put in daycare. They were proud to be wives and mothers. It was the man of the house who went to work to support his wife and kids.
Also, when Lucy was pregnant with Little Ricky on I Love Lucy, they were never allowed to use the word "pregnant" on television. But pregnant women on television in those days were married.
Dating was completely innocent. Their dates ended at the front door and that's that.; it was old-fashioned romance. Kissing, holding hands, hugging, and and holding each other. You never found Ann Marie and her boyfriend Donald Hollinger, Patty Lane and her boyfriend Richard, Gomer Pyle and his girlfriend Lou Ann Poovie. Eb Dawson and his fiancee Darlene Wheeler, or any of the Bradley girls (on Petticoat Junction) and their boyfriends in bed together. The only Bradley girl to get pregnant was Betty Jo, but after she was married to Steve Elliott. And he never demanded a paternity test to prove that baby Kathy Jo was his.
Regardless of whether or not they were married, if either one of them was unfaithful, they would simply end the relationship. They would never spill their dirty laundry on national television and placing all of their hope in some lie detector test.
Nowadays, the traditional family has disappeared; especially on television. We all know what goes on on the Jerry Springer, Maury Povich, and Steve Wilkos' shows. The same thing happens on some of the other shows such as Teen Mom, 16 and Pregnant, Dad Camp, and even Dr. Phil. Intensive arguing over stupidity. Lies. Accusations. Name calling. Cursing (though it's bleeped out).
