There was a glimmer of hope
In her soft blue eyes,
Her light brown hair fell about her face.
She sat in the chair silently,
Hoping,
Waiting,
She watched the others scurry around like worker bees,
All she heard was the constant buzz of everyone around her.
No one paid attention to her,
They all moved about quickly,
Wrapped up in their own lives,
No one cared,
To them, she was invisible.
She drummed her fingers on the hand rest,
She knew the procedure was risky-too risky,
But it had to be done,
She heaved a sigh as she waited,
Then she saw it.
The doctor was coming towards her,
She hoped it was good news,
And jolted from the chair.
The doctor shuffled across the floor,
In brisk strides,
She held her breath as he reached her,
His face was emotionless,
She felt her stomach knot up as she prepared to hear the worst,
Time seemed to stand still,
For a brief moment,
The busy world in the hospital seemed to stop.
She no longer heard the constant buzzing of the little worker bees,
Everything around her began to fade,
And all she saw was the doctor standing before her,
Frozen like a statue.
Then he smiled.
"The surgery was successful," he said.
"The mole has been removed."
