My interest in writing started with an old-fashioned style of scribbling love notes during my high school days. My rumor-mongering classmates and neighbors excessively bragged about my writing prowess. Many of my buddies then came to ask for my help and advice. My write ups had alleged successes. Most of my friends' feed backs were positive about winning the heart of their beloved ones.
Unexpectedly, one of my uncles joined in the fray. He requested me to send love letters to his work mate. It did not last long, he was also victorious. The lady friend became his bride, and they are able to live happily ever after, with wonderful kids and alluring grandchildren.
My passion for writing intriguingly expanded. I joined in some essay writing contests. Unfortunately, I lost many times and won only a few. To intensify my secret desire, I tried my luck to be a member of the school paper's editorial board. I was grateful to be accepted, even if my write-ups were rated average and below average sometimes. I persevered and received the same comments, time and time again, from my advisers. I still had room for improvement. But I did not mind much about my snail-paced progress. What I treasured most was when my name was printed in every issue.
Maybe because of exaggerated publicity, quite a number of my relatives and friends, would get my assistance on essay assignments, and other forms of correspondence. I obliged knowing that it was a good avenue to hone my creativity. At this juncture, another dramatic event happened. I was instrumental to realize my illegitimate cousin's wish to join with his biological father. My letter of plea was able to convince his step mom, step brothers and step sisters. He was admitted to their household. Thereafter, my lucky cousin was able to acquire his needed recognition and uplifting in life.
When I got my teaching job, I was chosen to be a committee member in drafting annual syllabi, curricula, instructional guides and student manuals. I was also included in framing the provisions of the faculty and administrative manuals. With our outputs, we were able to receive accolades in promoting and clarifying the school's mission, vision and goals. I got thrilled every time I was included in some appreciation rites and notices. These felicitations came from the
