One may reasonably argue the bible is the inspired Word of God; it is inspired by Jesus of Nazareth, son of the living God. It is the written testimony of multiple witnesses of Christ Jesus; individuals that lived during the time Christ Jesus lived and reigned on earth. One has to take this with a grain of “salt” however, considering that the bible was written by man. Man is fallible, God is not. Jesus did not write the bible, man did. Thus, while the bible reflects the Word of God, God himself did not write it. Thus, the bible may be prone to certain inaccuracies.
That said, let us consider the idea that the bible is indeed an inspired collection of writings that reflect man’s interpretation of the Word of God.
The Bible: An interpretation
It is reasonable to assert that the written testimonies of the life of Christ given and assembled in the bible represent the various points of view of the many people that followed the life of Christ. They reflect the same story and parables of Christ, written from multiple perspectives.
Like folk tales, any story told from multiple perspectives will undoubtedly reflect the individual and collective experiences of the author(s) and cultures in question.
This is why the bible is in essence more of a collection of letters than a single authoritative source. The bible is essentially a diary. It is “scripture.” Scripture by definition is any writing that is sacred or considered holy by its people. Thus, for Christians or followers of Christ, the content of the bible is indeed holy. It does contain the Word of God, because within the bible a reader will find the words spoken by Christ.
This is unquestionable. Christ’s words are contained in the bible, as written and recorded by multiple people. Prophecy is contained within the bible, as written and recorded by multiple prophets; recorded from multiple perspectives; just as all of our experiences of Christ are different, so too are the stories in the bible.
Even Jesus told stories in different ways so people understood the bible in different ways. God adapts himself for people, just as Jesus was all things for all people.
One cannot possibly consider the bible a single book; rather it is a collection of books, much like several novellas compiled into one source for simplicity’s sake.
There are many books today that describe the life of Jesus. There are even more books that attempt to explain the bible, or the hidden
