Ladies beware and keep your men from reading, A Gentleman’s Guide to Avoiding Marriage by Omar Riedman since it may sway him from marrying you!  Though this book is for men who are getting cold feet about popping the question to their girlfriends, women should read it to understand their man, before it’s too late.  With the divorce rate in the United States at fifty percent, the more men and women understand each other, the better the chances are for a happier marriage.   Although married men who are reading this book should make sure their wife does not see it since it could swiftly draw the marriage closer to a divorce.

Although the tone of this book is very anti-wife…anti-marriage, it’s delivered in a hilarious way.  I was laughing throughout most of the book.  To explain how difficult it is to keep a marriage together he uses Nelson Mandela as an example.  Mandela has been imprisoned, tortured, and abused for 27 years, and even he could not endure a marriage having been divorced twice, as Riedman puts, if Mandela can’t survive a marriage what makes you think that an average guy could?

After giving numerous arguments of why marriage is a huge mistake and men should stick to “random women and sluts”, Riedman does give a guideline for men who intend to marry anyway.  This is why even I who, as a divorced lady who would like to remarry, found some good in this book.  I learned what a man does not want, what he wants, and how to keep him from straying or divorce. 

Although, on the other hand, if you are a best friend, mother, or sister to a guy who you know is about to make the biggest mistake of his life by asking the wrong girl to marry him, then this book would be a great gift, just don’t wait until the bachelor party to give it since it may be too late for him to run from his fiancé.  This book lays out what is in store for him.  He will learn how his girlfriend will change after marriage, and what it will cost him to get out of it.  So, if you’re a man and getting second thoughts about popping the big question that will change your life forever, take some time to read this book and see if you still want to get marry, then at least you have been forewarned.
