The world can be a really crazy place; in fact, it is a crazy place. Do you know how many crazy people are out there in a place like this? Now, I have not dealt with people like these, and I do not want to start now; I am sure you do not want to either. If I were a cop or someone in the law enforcement, I would tell him or her who has been dealing with crises involving stalkers that this is no laughing matter; he or she should learn how to stand up for himself or herself, and tell those crazy people to get out of their lives. They do not want or need people like them around them. Here are some ways that I think that are really important for you to understand and learn in order for you to stay safe from these types of incidents.
*CHANGE/BLOCK YOUR NUMBER*
The guy (or girl) keeps texting you and or calling you, and you cannot stand hearing from the person. Go to your mobile carrier and tell them that you would like to get your number changed. I’m sure that they will be kind enough to do that for you.
*BLOCK THE PERSON ON SOCIAL NETWORKING SITES*
If things really start to get out of hand, block the person on Facebook, Myspace, or any other social networking site(s) where you guys are mutual friends. I know this is a tough one to do, but trust me, you will feel so much better if the person attempting to stalk you will not be able to keep in contact with you since he has been reported to the proper authorities.
*CALL A FRIEND/FAMILY MEMBER*
Your boyfriend/girlfriend, close friends and family are and always will be there for you, so I don’t think there should be any reason for you not to call them for this type of situation. Ask them to if you can stay with them for a while until can get your head together and relax. You will feel much better being with the people you care about than the person you do not care about.
*CALL THE POLICE/GET A RESTRAINING ORDER*
I cannot stress this enough. You have a cell phone; you know the number to 911. Dial it. Tell the police what your problem is, and give them the information of the person who has been abusing you. Give them the person’s name, age, hair and eye color, height, weight, and tell them what race (Asian, Caucasian, etc.) he or she is. They will have the information in the computer once you give it to them. Tell them to also put a restraining order on the person, and let him or her know that you do NOT want to keep in contact with the stalker anymore no matter what it takes for the stalker to want to talk to you.
*TAKE SELF-DEFENSE CLASSES*
The person still keeps calling/texting/showing up at your door, and you do not know what to do. Taking self-defense classes can help keep you out of harm’s way, and make you relax and less stressed out from these types of situations. If the person starts to mess with you, then it’s time to show that person what you are made of; it’s time to give the person a taste of his or her own medicine!
