From birth, a guiding hand
she desired to help fulfil dreams
flesh from Mother to Child
feeding the veins in her body.
Blinded by divisions of love
and hate between parent folk,
a soul cocooned in Satin's garden
a tortured heart in shards of woe.
This placid besieged woman
took a hand for better or worse
bonded by birth of kin
sworn to raise by devotion
though a link in the chain had
broken, feeling bereft and sad.
A second chance to rid the poison
within body and mind
gathered thoughts of new beginnings
with births of four new faces
but turned slave for drunks
paradise was a dream in disguise.
A tormented servant of life
locked in a match-box for half a century
the already fragile walls have now
become a final resting place and sanctuary
embalmed, blessed to rest in peace.
The last days of silence will carry
her legacy forward and will
always be remembered.
In memory of my Mother who died of heart disease in August 21st 1976.v

Poetry: Grief
by Sid de Knees
Hey Dad, I love you.
Oh father promise me, you'll live,
if it should be that I die first,
don't ever starve yourself of life,
or
It is four years now since that awful call
And still I cannot stand up proud and tall
My mind crawling in darkness round
where
Trapped in memories of our yesteryears,
that are locked in archives in my mind,
I can’t advance while stalled in the
Grief
In the grip of grief, I suffer the pain I feel
It is so unreal, the hurt, a distasteful meal
That makes me weep,
Loneliness
When the Dark
Brings Tears
............
I gazed out toward
the cold graveyard
and wondered if
she was peaceful
