Candles are one of the most affordable ways to add warmth to your home and they do so in a variety of ways. They are one of the simplest ways to inject color, fragrance, and mood lighting with just one accessory. Select from trendy new colors or choose a favorite standby.

Pick up scented candles that make your house feel more like home, but be sure to keep similar scents together and avoid mixing too many fragrances, or the affect will be overpowering. Scented candles can be very sensuous and relaxing.

In an effort to keep the look and feel of any space more interesting, be sure to mix up the shapes and sizes of the candles you select. Try using different types of plates and candle holders as well, or use containers that you aren't necessarily made for candles such as pretty decorative bowls. Always be cautious of flammable elements when choosing containers and never leave candles unattended when lit.

If you have a space right now that could use a little extra something, go out and pick up a few pillars, votive candles and holders, and even some taper candles and candle sticks. Create an arrangement on an empty surface and see how much warmer the space looks and feels after spending only a few moments and a few dollars to add candles.
