The past is ancient history
Even events including me
Although we may remember when
Fondly recall or shake within
We can’t return and live once more
As kids or teens when we’ve three score
Today is all we ever get
So love and live without regret
Into the future we can’t see
Our guesses mostly wrong will be
Would you have thought that man could fly
Beyond the earth, beyond the sky
And those predicting doom have missed
Thank God they’re wrong and we are blessed
To live again yet one more day
No matter what their placards say
So let us celebrate each breath
The present now before our death
With hist’ry past mere memory
And future yet before us be
Let’s make some tales to tell anon
When we will sit and think upon
The presence that we once did share
And those still waiting if we dare.

We navigate the shoals of time
Upon our Present course
Between the shallows of our pride
And breakers of remorse.
