Tips on setting goals that you can reach
They say that your goal should exceed your grasp, but I think it should only be by a little bit. A realistic goal is one that helps us move forward in the right direction. Perhaps then more achievable goals with follow.
Tips for setting and achieving your goal:
Only you can decide if it is honestly a goal you want to achieve. It must be self motivated.
If you are a smoker and you know that it is unhealthy for you to continue this habit you may want to give this one some serious thought.
Think of the improvement it will make in your life and then plot a plan with support measures in place. What does a non smoker have over a smoker. Non smokers have not got tobacco breath, a yellow lip line, or yellow tinged fingertips and teeth. Their clothes and hair do not reek of tobacco. Their lungs expand and contract with each normal breath without the effort of a smoker. Absent of all the signs of a smoker a man or woman is more attractive the result of better health. This results in more opportunities for quality time with your children and those closest to you. Chances are good that as a non- smoker that you will have more job opportunities and a social life that is fulfilling.
Make 2011 a year that you turn yourself into a non-smoker. There are many programs available in most communities to assist you in attaining this goal. Schedule an appointment with your family doctor, who will wholeheartedly give you a prescription for medication that helps while going through nicotine withdrawal. Save the money you would have spent on cigarettes and plan something special for yourself or others that are closest to you.
If your weight gain has been on your mind and you want to see the real you this year. Try to identify when you are most at risk to be over eating and why.
Boredom seeks comfort with snacking,especially in the winter months. Consider passing up fattening snacks when you grocery shop. Replace them with fruits and vegetables, add low fat yogurt and cheese. Try dips and seasonings to satisfy taste buds. Increase physical activity. Take walks alone or with friends and family when possible. Share your goals with your friends and ask them for their support. Even a friendly competition will add fun to this goal.
If you feel like you need a more structured goal to assist you. Reach out to the many available programs that have been successful in helping. A physician can also recommend appetite suppressors if needed.
