Poetry: True feelings

Spark

Music screams,

smacks violently

swimming my thoughts

with invisible angels

stunned, safe,

shaken inside outside

passing faces of down dreary

scab-toothed, silent

I summon the lost

with gregarious love

pretending,

they smile back

empty park you, ache,

look lonesome

children few and far

so instead I’m falling fast

for graffiti patterns, pretty

hooded strangers, heroes

litter, bristling against my trainers

I’m flying, with feet

rooted to such solemn ground

under a sky

grey and grim

I force that grin

as swarming hymns

of the real word

wear desperately thin

braving bustling

city-center-crush

familiarity is bleeding

but all the sounds

spin deep, spin dear

blanketing fading dreams

for which still,

I will desire

headphones

comfort this collapse

spread faith, snake-like

through every fiber

tracing imaginary friendship

with the places long lost

to this boy’s heart,

yearning in secret

saved by sound
