A Mountaintop Perspective!
I wish God would have told me! Or do I?
Would I have done anything differently? Would I be the person that I am today had I not experienced all that I was supposed to in my lifetime? And just what is it that I’m to do with these experiences that I’ve encountered on my heart-wrenching journey?
Tonight as I ponder these questions, I also know that every single one of you has been on your own heartbreaking journey, and that every single one of you has much the same thoughts. We cling to the mountaintops where we experience our joy, and we dread the dark valleys where we tend to spend more of our time than we ever expected. The question is: How do we put all this in a proper perspective? I’d like to say that I have the complete answer, but unfortunately I do not…
What I do know is this! We are all extremely blessed to have been given life! Life in itself is an absolute miracle, so we are all living miracles! Wow! Okay, that should be a perpetual ‘mountaintop’! I also know that we were given free will to make our own choices! That’s another mountaintop - it’s just those darn consequences! But those consequences become good lessons that we hopefully learned and grew from. And another thing I know is that each of our lives matter, and that we are all a part of a bigger plan for which each of our journey experiences, and how we touch others from them is extremely important. Another mountaintop!
I also know that the valleys are where we learn and build character - and, okay that’s a valley first, but then what? Well, if we lived in complete bliss, and didn’t face life’s adversities and challenges, then how would we learn anything - how would we become better people? In our valleys is where we learn our lessons, which equal growth, thus character building assets that not only help us, but help others as well! Voila! Another mountaintop! Okay, I’m not trying to sound like Pollyanna here - I’m just looking for a Mountaintop Perspective since seeing situations from our valleys can make us, oh so very negative, and I truly don’t think that’s what was intended for our miraculous lives!
And another thing that becomes quite clear as we get a tad bit older is that if we don’t ‘give it away,’ meaning if we don’t share our lives with others so that they might learn from our trials, then we have done our fellow human-beings a very large disservice, because none of us was meant to experience all of life’s joys or tragedies, but yet from each one comes a wealth of knowledge, foresight, understanding, empathy, sympathy, etc. that when shared, we all gain! I’m a huge fan of the ‘win-win’ concept!
In conclusion, when we have a ton of lemons dropped on us, rather than becoming bitter, lets turn them into the sweetest nectar ever, and as you serve your nectar, continue also sharing your ‘pearls’ with others. And rather than seeing our journeys as exhausting, hard, or sad, let’s consider them a gift, and feel privileged that we are alive, and able to share the experiences from our mountaintops, and our valleys so that others’ lives may benefit, and become richer from each of our experiences!
I try to stay very mindful of the fact that there is a reason for every season of our lives, and not to look back with regret, but to look forward with hope.
