Ways of talking to God

Conversation with the Host of Heaven should not be difficult or intimidating.  Talking to God should be as comfortable and as normal as talking to any of your family members that you have here on Earth.  You may find that going to a place of quiet helps you to get in touch with your spiritual being and be able to enter into a more fluent place to talk to God.

In order to talk to God, sometimes just stop and meditate first and let all the thoughts that are back there in the back platforms of your mind come forward and peruse each thought as you think on God.  After you have sifted through all the thoughts that come without any effort or agitation on your part,  bring to the surface the most prominent thoughts that arise and make them prayers.

If might help if you take a Bible to read at the same time.  Often, reading the Bible will inspire the things that you would like to talk to God about.  Psalms can be a place to start, as you read about the things that David prayed.

When talking to God be sure to give space for an answer or for God to fill in the gaps and leave you with an assurance that the message has been heard.  God doesn't always answer right away, so be patient as you wait for a response to your petitions.

Try not to let your conversation be all about your woes, troubles and requests.  Allow time for there to be a place for praise, worship and thanks to be given for the things that are working well.

The Bible says let faith and patience have its perfect way, because faith and patience is what inherits the promises of God.  Talking with God should be as natural as breathing the clean fresh air when you go for a walk.  God loves to hear the sound of the voice of His children, and delights to give good gifts to His children.  He is not an austere, churlish God, so come boldly before him, with humility and enjoy your time alone with Him.  He delights to give the desires of your heart to you when you delight yourself in Him.

Don't let your conversations only happen once a year or when you are in an emergency, but like as the relationships happen here on the earthly plane, they have to be continuous, maintained relationships with a constancy of a mutual relationship.  Do the same with God.
