Hypocrisy- is basically pretending to be something you arer not or pretending to represent something you don't, especially, when it comes to religious matters.
Religion. There are two very different and separate meanings for religion. 1. Belief in and worship of God or Gods 2. A specific system of belief or worship often involving a code of ethics.
The two definitions of religion are as different as heaven and hell. For the not-so religious let's just say as different as night and day.
The most religious hypocrisy usually takes place with Christians and matters concerning what is written of Jesus and those who choose to claim and follow his ways or teachings.
The Bible is for the most part is about God and his relationship with humans. Then it goes into the life and teachings of Jesus, who is God's son. There's some debate wether Jesus was God or what is exactly is meant by the phrase "God's son". However, jesus lived a life of sinlessness. There was plenty of sin and/or wrong-doing all around Jesus as he grew up. It seems he just learned from what was around him and then preached about it as his life went on. In his lifetime he witnessed the wicked ways of humanity. He witnessed the wrong-doings in countless situations and he separated himself from such things by his actions and his teachings.
Peoples' selfish emotions and hostility towards others seems to be the number one culprit of sin and wrongfulness. The number two culprit seems to have been money. These things, concerning the present time, have not changed very much since the times of Jesus. They still rank number one and number two of the world's most deadliest sins.
Jesus knew that this life here on earth was not all there is. People who claim to follow God and /or Jesus also claim to believe that there's more to life then we here on earth realize. However, in the Christian religion money is still the prime motive of why they do what they do. They, Christians, do what they do and act how they act for the pay-off of what can be gained here in this lifetime on earth. The temptations of sin and selfishness is just too strong to change their ways.
Jesus set the Godly example and Christianss want all the glory of following the ways of God and Jesus, yet they will not part from the sins of everyday life. If that's not hypocrisy
