The art of makeup application can be very confusing. It truly is an art, and like any art, there are specific techniques that are used to improve the end result. One of the major mistakes people make when it comes to makeup application is using the wrong tools. All the different makeup products serve a purpose, as do the tools used to apply them. A painter wouldn’t use the same brush for all the different colors they use. Applying makeup is very different from painting, however. You are not painting, but rather accentuating, letting the beauty show through. To be successful, you need the right tools. By learning more about the specific tools you should have in your makeup collection, you can ultimately perfect the art of applying makeup.
Foundation
The product most people start with is the foundation. Instead of using your hands to apply the foundation, use a clean brush. Your hands will have bacteria and you don’t want to get this on your face. Fingers can work for some things such as smudging, or covering a small area, but brushes, if used the right way, are usually more sanitary. Most brushes have special cleanser you can buy, so you can ensure your brushes are clean and safe for your face. Your foundation brush will vary depending on whether you use liquid or powder foundation. These brushes are usually medium in size, but are compact and still have plenty of fibers to sweep on the foundation. They are fairly flat on top as well. If you’re looking for cheap brushes, the foundation brush is the one brush you should splurge on. The foundation sets up the look of the entire face, so a quality brush is very important. It will not only make the makeup look better, but it will keep your skin healthier as well. For powder foundation, Bare Minerals has a great kabuki brush to apply their foundation. It’s made of quality materials and brushes on the foundation evenly. Places such as Estee Lauder and Mac also have great foundation brushes for liquid foundation. Their brushes have more of a flat design, specialized to distribute the foundation evenly on the face.
Concealer
It’s an ongoing debate on whether concealer should be applied before or after foundation. It really depends on how much you need to cover. If you have more areas you want to conceal, it may be better doing so before foundation so it blends better. A concealer brush is one of the smaller brushes because it’s meant to cover only small areas and blemishes.Places
