The issue of racism being seen as acceptable for certain races is indicative of a far larger problem; that of protected groups vs non-protected groups.
The same societal way of thinking that considers making fun of a "cracker", "honky" or "white-bread" acceptable while considering similar references against blacks unacceptable (with one reference - the N Word - being seemingly unspeakable)is the same mentality that resulted in a massive uproar in the UK recently concerning contestant's behavior on the TV show Celebrity Big Brother.
This does not just apply to the issue of race. The misogynist styling of comedians such as Roy Chubby Brown and Bernard Manning are seen as dire and sexist by today's politically correct society that paradoxically laughs every time Jo Brand makes a joke about how incompetent and useless men are.
Certain religions are protected more than others too. There has been debate in the UK over the showing of the Jerry Springer Opera and a spokesman for a Christian group commented that had the show offended Muslims as much as it had offended Christians it would never have been shown. That may have been the case but it is also a simple fact that had the show poked fun at Buddhists, Wiccans or Satanists, not only would the program have been shown but there would not have been the slightest controversy concerning it either. Television program makers have to be careful about how they portray Muslims in today's fraught environment but every serial killer shown on screen can fit a bizarre satanic stereotype.
Society seems to have some very bizarre ideas concerning the differences between races, religions and sexes. The fact that it sees some as being ripe for ribbing and others as been somehow sacred is no different from those well known - yet irritating - adages.
If a man sleeps around he is a stud. If a woman does so she is a slut.
Yet paradoxically:
If a man buys a sex toy he is a pervert. If a woman does so it's OK.
The answer is that there is one race that can never be protected from slander or such insult and that is the human race. I hate them.
Be an equal opportunist hater; no matter whether black, white, man, woman, child, gay, strait - hate them all!
