No, ebay has not outgrown the average seller. There is a rapidly growing on-line market for buying and selling. Why deal with the hassle and inconvenience of stores when you can shop comfortably from your own home? Shopping online is cheaper than buying retail, especially on eBay where individual sellers list individual prices. People will always have things to sell, and they will always have a market of on-line buyers.
All a seller has to do to be successful is to find the right time to sell and the right buyers to purchase their items. Without a doubt, eBay is one of the most popular ones out there. eBay heavily advertises on TV, On-line, and in newspapers and magazines. There are even books such as e-bay for dummies to help you sell your stuff. Everything is sold on eBay from electronics to clothes to jewelry. EBay is a great place to sell your unwanted items, especially if you happen to be the knowledgeable average seller.
It may be true that a seller on eBay has to stand out among hundreds of people selling the same item, but the average seller isn't too small for eBay yet. It may be getting harder for the average seller to survive on eBay, low prices, creativity, good connections, and word of mouth can help the average seller become big enough for to compete with great sellers. Sellers have to start from somewhere, and the top sellers on eBay had to be average sellers and improve their selling status before they could become the best.
Just because you're average, it doesn't mean that you can't hang out with the big boys. If the average sellers knows his or her stuff, constantly revises listings, promotes the store, and listens to what customers have to say, the average seller is going to do just fine on eBay. As long as the average seller is willing to do the work and keep on top of thing, they will have a nice little selling spot on eBay.
EBay constantly grows and improves, and the average seller will never be left out. The average seller will always be useful to eBay since the average seller can give consumers more personal attention than the seller with many buyers. The average seller also has more time to ensure customer satisfaction than the great seller with hundreds of customers. The average on-line buyer loves shopping on eBay, and continuously buys things from the average seller.
