The devil, Satan, is the adversary of God, the enemy of mankind, and the destroyer of all hope and salvation. Christ teaches us that Satan is not unlike a roaring lion, seeking out those whom he can consume. There is no good in any part of him, for he is bereft of goodness. He is a liar, a manipulator, he is temptation itself. He can bend men and women's hearts to his will at a whim, and the temptations he offers are varied, can come in many forms, and are enticing.
Satan is entirely the enemy of God and His Christ, because he himself wishes it to be so. By trying to place himself upon the throne of God, thereby crowning himself as the king of Heaven and of all creation, he was trying to make God obsolete. Let us be in no doubt whatsoever that Satan wishes, even now, to overthrow God's Kingdom in Heaven....but on earth? That is a different story.
On earth the devil reigns supreme. Earth belongs to Satan for as the Blessed Virgin Mary stated 'The world belongs to the devil and his angels.' One must always remember that the Roman Catholic Church's greatest need at this point in time, is defending herself against the agents of evil.
Some people may laugh this off as mere superstition, a superstition that belongs in the ancient past. But let there be no mistake that evil is everlasting, as much as God's love exists, so too does evil. The Church is up against the greatest challenge she will ever face, that of evil agencies working from within her. One only has to read about the accounts of child abuse caused by priests, nuns and every other denomination - so-called God's representatives - to realise how deeply ingrained evil has become within the Church, and even within her corridors of power.
The Blessed Virgin Mary recognised and qualified this with the following statement: 'Yes, my children, I cannot bring you erroneous discourse with words of happiness and cheer at this time. I can only give you the facts of what has taken place. The present conditions in the world in my Son's Church - and in Rome - have been well promoted by Lucifer and his agents. His power is great, but you can always break his rule with prayer.' { Our Lady of the Roses, September 7th 1978}
And within that statement is a warning from Our Lady Herself as to the powers of Lucifer and his agents. Yet through prayer and penance may we still break that hold he has on us, and on the world as a whole. Evil can be found within nature, were

How could such a perfect creation go so terribly bad. Is the Devil entirely an enemy of God or just a prodigal son of God?
